About Us

The Film Director's Guide of Nepal was established in 2001A.D. with a view to developing and promoting the social, economic and cultural activities through a medium of cinema in a qualitative manner. Its main objective is to direct the path of Nepalese film cinema in an useful and dynamic way by promoting the Nepalese art and culture for uplifting the glorious prestige of the nation. The Guide is primarily concerned with the protection and preservation of the profession and particularly the rights of Nepalese Film Directors.

The Guide has been duly registered at HMG, Chief District Officer's Office, Kathmandu, Nepal under the prevailing laws of the land. Any established Nepali film directors or a new talent is expected to direct a feature film director and getting a recommendation letter of the guide. Thus, new talents are equally welcomed and inspired by this institution to serve the nation through the cinema with their new creation. Beside, the Chief assistant directors, who have already worked in one or more feature films, are also eligible to obtain the membership of the guide according to it's constitution.

The Guide, besides protecting the profession rights of the film directors, organizes film debates, interaction programs, workshops and seminars etc. on a regular basis. The Guide is also trying to organize a monthly film show for the film directors where they can discuss about the film and exchange their ideas and experiences.
